EXCURSION JIA 2014
From the organization committee of the JIA 2014, we suggest an excursion,
which, inside the framework of the conferences, will allow you to know the
archaeological possibilities of Alava. The tour proposes an historical view
from the Prehistory to the Middle Ages, where you will have the opportunity to
see the rich historical and archaeological heritage of the area. This is our
proposal:
10th May, Saturday
10.10: Departure time, from the bus
stop at Alava Street (Behind the Las Nieves building). (Duration of the trip, 20-25 mins).
10.45: Arrival to the Roman
site of Iruña-Veleia.
11.00: Guided tour to the site.
(Duration of the tour, 1 hour and a half).
12.30: End of the guided tour and
departure to the La Hoya museum. (Duration of the trip, 50-55 mins).
13.30: Arrival to the museum
13.40: Visit to the museum by Armando Llanos, archaeologist and director of the
excavations. (Duration
of the tour 1 hour).
14.45: End of the visit and
lunch time (1 hour).
15:45: Guided tour to “La Barbacana”, by Armando Llanos. (Duration
about 40-50 minutes)
16.30: End of the tour and
departure to the “Dolmen de la Txabola de la Hechicera” (“Witch’s hut dolmen”).
16.40: Arrival to the dolmen and
guided tour by Javier Fernández Eraso, Chair of Prehistory at the Basque
Country University. (Duration of the tour about 30 mins).
17. 10: End of the tour and departure to Vitoria (Duration of the trip about 50-55 mins).
18.00: Arrival to Vitoria
