Second circular

JIA 2014, SECOND CIRCULAR

Once the deadline for receiving traditional sessions and round tables for the next JIA (JIA 2014) is closed, the organization, ARKEOGAZTE has selected a series of proposals that will form the Conference, in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

In this circular guidelines to take part into the conference are exposed, by means of communication proposals, collaboration in round tables or posters. Since this moment on, timeline is open for receiving proposals; deadline will be 10th of March 2014.

1. List of traditional sessions and round tables of the JIA 2014

1.2. Participation forms

a) TRADITIONAL SESSIONS. The participation proposal must be aimed to the organizer/s of each session before the 10th of March 2014, whose contact data can be found in the proposal of each session (vid. attached documents). The organizers of the session will be the ones in charge to select and accept the proposals based on the content and the interest/debate possibilities of each one. The acceptance or denial of the proposals will be announced to the authors the 13th of March 2014, when the timeline for registration will be opened.

The participation into the traditional sessions can be by means of a poster or an oral communication, although only the latter will have time for exposition in the session. Proposals must be written in Spanish, Portuguese, English, French, Catalonian, Galician and Basque, as established by the organizers of each session. The presentation of the poster will have their space in the general program of the JIA 2104. Both modalities (communication and poster) will be included in the future proceedings that will be published by Arkeogazte.

b) ROUND TABLES. The participation proposals must be aimed to the organizer/s of each session before the 10th of March 2014. The organizer/s will be in charge to select the most interesting proposals to encourage collective debate. Proposals must be written in Spanish, Portuguese, English, French, Catalonian, Galician or Basque, as established by the organizers of each session. Subjects proposed in posters can be included in the debate, but they will not have a concrete time for exposition inside de debate table. The acceptance or denial of the proposals will be announced to the authors the 13th of March 2014. Those accepted will be published as abstracts in the General Programme, in order to present the subjects of the debate in advance.  From the 10th of March 2014 on, the organizers of the round tables will write a summary of all the interventions which will be uploaded in the web in advance to the conferences. So, every participant will be able to know the content and enrich the debate. The development of the debate will be reflected in a text coordinated by the organizers (and moderators) of the table, and will be published in the proceedings of the JIA 2014.

c) POSTERS not ascribed to sessions or round tables. To formalize the poster proposals, participants must send the complete information of the author/s, with a summary of not more than 1000 words to the mail secretariaJIA2014@gmail.com before the 10th of March 2014. Proposals can be presented in Spanish, Portuguese, English, French, Catalonian or Basque. The space assigned to the posters is limited, so, only the ones which are mainly related to the slogan of the conferences (“Social Archaeologies, Archaeology in society”) will be selected.

During the JIA, there will be a programmed time to visit and discuss the posters, which will be displayed nearby where the sessions will be held. During that time, one of the authors must be available along their poster, to explain doubts or answer questions. The poster must be presented the first day of the conferences. As decided by the authors, the posters will be reflected in the proceedings of the JIA 2014 that will be published by Arkeogazte. The format of the poster will be DIN A-1 (594mm x 841mm), vertical.

2. Limits and participation conditions

a) Each participant can figure just as signatory of only one communication inside each session or debate table (and may participate into 3 different sessions, having into account the presentation of a poster not ascribed to any session or table as an intervention).

b) Each participant can present only one proposal of poster in the whole conferences, inside the sessions as well as ascribed to free thematic.

c) The participants in the JIA 2014 must be researchers who have not got their PhD degree before the celebration of the conferences.
